VA and Radiation Exposure
VA grants service connection for disabilities determined to be the result of ionizing radiation during military exposure. Exposure can be conceded based on:
Participation in nuclear testing
POW in Japan in certain areas at time of nuclear bombing
Member of occupation forces with certain areas and limited time period
Military occupational exposure
There are two controling VA regulations which define disabilities presumed to be the result of documented or presumed exposure based on the exposure activity. The most appropriate citation controls.
